A little fairy
Mumbai, India, 2019
As I walked through the streets of Mumbai, I was struck by the sight of a little girl hiding under a large garbage truck, used as a neighbourhood dump. Despite the dirt that surrounded her, she wore a pretty, worn dress and jewelry around her neck and ankle. She was alone, abandoned by the world, and when I passed by her, she ran towards me like a domestic animal in need of affection. This encounter, this moment of vulnerability and purity, deeply touched me.
Looking at this little fairy, we can't help but feel empathy for her and wonder about her story and daily life. She reminds us that behind every face there is a complex and emotional life. She invites us to open our eyes to our world and reflect on our place in it.
